More info on the Newcastle United Newspaper Book
Newcastle United FC came about with the merging of two clubs Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End in 1892. The new club took over Newcastle East’s ground at St James’ Park. Other suggestions for the team’s name, at the time, were Newcastle Rangers and Newcastle City. Our Newcastle gift book opens with the loss to Aston Villa in the 1905 FA Cup Final and then the greater glory of winning the League trophy, that same year. The team’s first FA Cup win is recorded in 1910. Into the 1920s and the second FA Cup win of 1924 receives full coverage in our Newcastle club history book. A vivid collection of behind the scenes snapshots make up an evocative collection of Newcastle Utd football memorabilia.
It’s the 25th April 1932 and our Newcastle gift book gives over three pages to the third FA Cup win against Arsenal. Our Newcastle history book takes in some other exciting details from 1946 when Len Shackleton scores five in an epic 13:0 thrashing of Newport County. Into the 50s and another FA Cup victory is celebrated in 1951. Newcastle win the FA Cup again the following year and our Newcastle souvenir gives three pages over to this magnificent achievement.
The 1960s were the decade of the Fairs Cup. A win over Rangers took United into the final and victory. Straight into the 1970s and the arrival of the legendary striker – Malcolm MacDonald (who cost the club a very reasonable £180,000 from Luton Town) scores a hat-trick for a satisfying 3:2 win over Liverpool. Add this commemorative football book to give their collection of Newcastle memorabilia something unique.
1992 and this evocative Newcastle football gift handles the appointment of Kevin Keegan as manager. 1993 sees the signing of Peter Beardsley for £15 million and an interesting snapshot of a second round Coca Cola Cup tie that results in a 7:1 result against Notts County. Other highlights from the 1990s include the back-to-back victories over Antwerp, the signing of Rio Ferdinand (and his first goal), the signing of Alan Shearer, and the appointment of Kenny Dalglish.
Our football Newcastle gift idea continues into the 2000s with vivid stories and reportage of all the key moments for this giant of the English game.
