More info on the
Bristol City
Newspaper Book.
Bristol City was founded in 1897 when the Bristol South End club became a professional side and changed its name to Bristol City. The club joined the Football League in 1901 and came into Division One as Division Two Champions. Because of being so new the team was known as the ‘Bristol Babes’ well into the 30s. This is the basis for our Bristol City unique gift – The Bristol City Newspaper Book. Crammed with incident and little known stories it makes the perfect present for the persistent Bristol City fan.
This unique gift is filled with long past teams like Kingstonian (who Bristol beat 7:1 in the FA Cup 1st round of 1933), great names like Tot Walsh (who scored 6 goals against Gillingham in a 9:4 victory in 1927), and the huge crowds of 43,300 that saw the 0:0 draw against Preston North End in 1935. Such delights add up to a fantastic souvenir and a great addition to any collection of Bristol City memorabilia.
The rivalry with Rovers is captured particularly well in three games (and three victories) from the 1950s and two victories in the 1960s, and 1990s.Incidental detail brings this unique present alive like John Atyeo’s last game for the club in 1966 and his part in a 4:1 victory over Ipswich. Although not in our book do you know that the club won the Welsh Cup in 1934? What a splendid history to pore over and share with fellow fans.
The 1960s and 1970s saw the club in extended League and FA cup runs and our Bristol City history includes the most memorable like 1970 1:1 draw with Spurs in the League Cup Quarter Final replay and the 1:1 draw with Leeds in the FA Cup 5th Round replay in 1974. The end of the 1980s is gone into with some detail to bring you the so nearly factor. The Littlewoods Cup Semi-final and Bristol almost get past Nottingham Forrest.
All our books are hand-made. Your order and the personalization details you request are sent to our craftsmen and women who make every book to order. For a small fee you can add gold embossing on the cover of your leatherette covered souvenir. What an impression a personalised tabloid-sized book of their favourite club will make; a perfect Bristol City gift idea to give the fan in your life.
The coverage in this Bristol City souvenir also covers the playoffs of 2004 and 2005 and continues to the end of last season. So here is a nostalgic present for the faithful of Ashton Gate. A present to treasure and read again and again so they can recount the great moments of this unique west country club.
